Total hip replacement
Hip replacement is a very successful procedure which can transform mobility and quality of life.
Modern hip replacement surgery offers a wide variety of hip replacements. To take account of patient age, bone quality, activity demands and patient preference, Mr Platt offers both uncemented hip replacements with all-ceramic bearings for younger highly active patients, and hybrid hip replacements with hybrid (ceramic on polythene) bearings for older patients.
Mr Platt performs hip replacement through a posterior approach, and where possible uses the SPAIRE technique to preserve muscle attachments which helps with recovery after surgery.
